During the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum, which is being held in Accra, Ghana, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CERMI, Luís Teixeira, took part in a panel discussion on “Initiatives to create local capacity and workforces, creating local win-win partnerships between NGOs and the private sector”.

“I introduced CERMI and the partnerships that we have been developing, the projects in locations that impact people's lives (water solar pumping for agriculture, photovoltaic systems in rural areas), the ongoing training courses that benefit more than 500 young Cabo Verdeans (almost 100% with scholarships), the CERMI Regional Anchor Project, the training of technicians from ECOWAS countries, the training of youths from São Tomé and Príncipe, electric mobility, and the new Cabo Verde Centre of Competence “3C” created at CERMI in partnership with the Luxembourg GTB Center”, highlights Luís Teixeira.

During his presentation, CERMI's Chairman of the Board also took the opportunity to show “the strong commitment that the Government of Cabo Verde has made in professional training, as an instrument to combat poverty, social inclusion and the creation of jobs for young people”.

To conclude, Teixeira referred to the “excellent partner relationship that Cabo Verde has with international cooperation partners, namely Luxembourg, the European Union, Portugal and Spain, in terms of financing, mobilizing funds and implementing training projects and training human resources”.

Beside CERMI's representatives, other Cabo Verdean entities linked to the energy sector also attended the event. It is an important opportunity for the country to find new partnerships and to show what has been done in terms of development of this sector and consequently the design of a more sustainable future.
