The first charger for electric vehicles in Cabo Verde was installed today at CERMI, as part of a pilot project.
The charging station, owned by CERMI and financed by the Luxembourg Cooperation, was officially presented at the International Conference on Renewable Energy, and is part of a government plan aimed at introducing electric cars in Cabo Verde to promote electric mobility.
The first 7 vehicles arrived in the country in January, and will be driven on the streets of Praia, Sal and Mindelo. More than 500 such vehicles are expected in the period 2019/20. The aim is to reach a complete fleet renewal by 2050, replacing conventional cars with electric cars.
