Trainee technicians received 100 hours of theoretical/practical classes at CERMI, and were given the opportunity to participate in the installation of 4 demonstration projects of solar thermal technology installed in tourist resorts on the island of Sal, as well as overseeing 1 demonstration kit installed at IEFP headquarters that will serve for future training purposes on the island.
The installed systems have already started to yield positive results for the beneficiaries, seeing a reduction in their energy bills.
The training program was conducted within the framework of the Promotion of Solar Thermal Energy for Water Heating Project, implemented by CERMI in partnership with the National Directorate for Industry, Trade and Energy and financed by the Spanish Cooperation.
The project furthermore developed a Strategy Document to create the necessary conditions for the sustainable development of the solar thermal energy market in Cabo Verde.
