The Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance of Cabo Verde, financed by the European Union and with the technical support from the Luxembourg Cooperation, completed another training for English-speaking trainers from West Africa today, as part of the CERMI Regional Anchor Strengthening Project in ECOWAS.
The closing ceremony was chaired by CERMI's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Luís Teixeira, and by LuxDev Resident Representative, François Bary. The leaders of the Cabo Verde Centre of Competence, also attended the ceremony.
“Congratulations for completing this stage. I wish you all good luck. I am confident that this training has increased your technical capabilities and that you will be able to better contribute to the energy transition in your home countries”, said Luís Teixeira, encouraging each participant to be, from now on, “another ambassador for the Cabo Verde Centre in their respective country and a future trainer in CERMI”.
François Bary considered it a privilege for LuxDev to help put into practice this training, within the framework of the Regional Anchor Project, which aims to transform CERMI into a reference center in West Africa.
One of the participants, Damilola Asaleye, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the training and with the way everyone was welcomed at CERMI.
“We thank CERMI, LuxDev and the European Union for this opportunity, but also the trainers who have imparted important knowledge in the best manner possible for us to take back to our home countries. We truly enjoyed every moment we spent here and the magnificent experience we had”.
The training was delivered by two international trainers and benefited participants from Nigeria, Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Cabo Verde. The trainees took the opportunity to thank those involved in the training by saying, “thank you very much” in their native languages.
