A delegation from the Centre for Renewable Energies and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) participated in a seminar in Dakar, Senegal, from January 21 to 24, which presented an innovative energy planning and management software for residential, industrial and commercial space installations.
An important tool for increasing energy transition in ECOWAS countries, Cabo Verde plans to use it in the near future following a testing phase that it is currently underway in Senegal.
Aiming to make best use of this software and adapt it to fit the reality of the Cabo Verde market, CERMI is currently finalizing a case study it carried out on home ground using a sample of more than 400 surveys (of residences, commercial and industrial facilities) on the island of Santiago. The study will be presented soon, explained the Centre's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Luís Teixeira.
The CERMI delegation in Senegal also included the Centre’s Executive Director, Luís Pina, and Engineering Assistant, Alexander Martins, from the Centre’s Technical Services Department.
The mission was carried out within the framework of a protocol signed with the project “Access to Sustainable Energy for Sustainable Cities” (SEA4CITIES).
During its mission in Dakar, the CERMI delegation further rolled out an intense program of meetings with Senegalese partners and relevant authorities.
“We had meetings with various institutions and vocational training schools and worked with those in charge of the Luxembourg and Austrian Cooperation. The purpose of these conversations was to discuss ways of financing our training and research activities, among other projects,” said CERMI Executive Director, Luís Pina.
Overall, considering the “excellent potential for cooperation”, the mission went “very well” concluded the Director.
