The Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) kicked off another regional train-the-trainer program on Solar Thermal Systems this morning, at its facilities in Praia, for representatives from French-speaking countries of the ECOWAS region, as well as participants from Cabo Verde.
The training will last for two weeks and includes participants from Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Benin, Niger, Mali, Guinea, Togo and Cabo Verde.
The opening ceremony was presided by CERMI’s Executive Director, Luis Pina, with Resident Representative of the Development and Cooperation Agency of Luxembourg (LuxDev), François Bary, Project Coordinator for the Regional Anchor Strengthening Project, Jansénio Delgado, and 3C’s Business Director, Luis Frederico also in attendance.
“I wish you all a fruitful training and a good stay in Cabo Verde. We look forward to working with you in the future, after completing this training program”, said Luis Pina, reiterating that, “for those interested”, CERMI is open to partnering with the institutions that these participants represent.
François Bary introduced the institution he represents, LuxDev, and outlined the key points about this project. He further highlighted some of the qualities of the country hosting the training, saying “aside from Cabo Verde having a very ambitious and very clear energy transition vision, it is also a fantastic country, full of warm hospitality - or “morabeza”.
The training program is carried out within the framework of CERMI's Regional Anchor Strengthening Project in partnership with LuxDev, and financed by the European Union. This will be the last training session for ECOWAS trainers for this year.
