The Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) launched another regional train-the-trainer program in Energy Efficiency today, at its facilities in the city of Praia. The training is for Francophone countries of the ECOWAS region, and is also being attended by two representatives from Cabo Verde as well as one from Guinea Bissau.

The training will take place between September 16 and 27, with two participants each from Senegal, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo and Mali, and one representative from Guinea Bissau and Mauritania.

Members of CERMI’s Board of Directors chaired the opening ceremony. Resident Representative of the Luxembourg Development and Cooperation Agency (LuxDev), François Bary, and Coordinator for the Center’s Regional Anchor Strengthening Project, Jansénio Delgado, were also present.

After welcoming the participants and trainers, they highlighted the importance of the issue of energy efficiency for the development of the sub-region and the boost that this training will give to achieve this goal.

Following on from the opening ceremony, the trainees went on a guided tour of CERMI's facilities, where they were able to see first-hand the functional structure of the Center that will host them over the next two weeks, as well as the workshops, laboratories and the Solar Photovoltaic Park.

CERMI’s training program aims to give participants the necessary tools to enable them to train technicians in their respective countries, transferring acquired knowledge, in order to help those countries implement their own policies and actions in the field of energy transition and efficiency, a sector which is currently a top priority for the entire sub-region.

This training is being carried out in partnership with LuxDev within the framework of CERMI's Regional Anchor Strengthening Project, which is funded by the European Union.
